Programs and Services
Our IMPACT Community coalitions in Dallas, Ellis, Rockwall and Navarro counties are designed to have widespread community impact. We measure outcomes such as past 30-day use of alcohol, marijuana and prescription drugs and perception of risks (parents and youth). In one community, we helped reduce past 30-day use of alcohol by 60 percent. In another, we are seeing a steady decrease in past 30-day use of alcohol, marijuana and prescription drugs.
You may not be as familiar with our agency name as you are with the programs we have designed, funded, implemented and sustained in Dallas, Ellis, Navarro and Rockwall counties, including:
IMPACT Dallas County - Garland
IMPACT Ellis County - Waxahachie
IMPACT Ellis County - Red Oak
IMPACT Navarro College
Rural Communities Opioid Collaborative
DRUG FREE COMMUNITIES
The goal of the Drug-Free Communities grant, which funds prevention in Ellis County, is to establish and strengthen collaboration among communities to prevent and reduce substance use among youth.
SOCIAL HOST ORDINANCE
IMPACT Waxahachie is working with their community to implement a social host ordinance. This will hold individuals responsible for hosting, or knowingly providing a place for underage drinking and/or other substance use to occur. A "Social Host" refers to a person(s) who knowingly allows the possession or consumption of alcohol and/or other substances by underage youth on property that he/she owns, leases, or otherwise controls.
CRAZY FOR MY KIDS
Crazy for My Kids is a community-wide campaign that urges parents to sign a pledge that no alcohol or other drugs will be available in their homes. When parents make this pledge, their names are added to a directory of safe homes. When their child asks to visit a friend, parents can check the directory to be sure that home is on the safe list. Crazy for My Kids is currently operating in the communities of Cedar Hill, Garland and Waxahachie. For more information about the campaign.

Thank yous and Testimonial
The Garland Parks, Recreation and Cultural Arts Department
Throughout this project, I learned about the problem that drugs has caused in Dallas, especially to young adults and children. I honestly feel happy about doing this project not just because it is an assignment but because I made an impact. I am happy that my team and I partnered with Drug Prevention Resources. They showed us that they care and help people.
