Like many, I am infuriated over the recent news stories from 60 Minutes and The Washington Post about how leading pharmaceutical companies, makers of the opioids killing nearly 150 Americans a day, many still in their youth, are bedding down with members of Congress.

Drug Prevention Resources will once again participate in the Drug Enforcement Administration's 14th National Prescription Drug Take Back Day. This biannual event occurs in the spring and fall; the October event is set for the 28th nationwide. Locations will accept unused and expired prescription and over-the-counter medications.

(Garland, Texas) — More than 30 states have banned “Palcohol” or powdered alcohol as a prevention measure under the advisement of public health experts. Texas remains one of three states in which Palcohol will be available for purchase if the state legislature does not take measures to prohibit its sale.

(Irving, Texas) — Bobby Barker, a long-time financial analyst and senior business manager for Lehigh Hanson, Inc., Irving, has joined the Drug Prevention Resources board, Texas’ oldest non-profit agency focused on preventing substance use disorders among children and teens.
